Christmas Update!!!!
"What shall we do about the place? Should we go to that park? But we can't go there when the weather is bad, can we?"
When Kana, her friends and I chatted after school, we often went into some family restaurant or fast food restaurant, but every time we met up, I worried about money.
Besides, I didn't think that a noisy restaurant like that would suit Amane's atmosphere. Therefore, meeting at a restaurant was not an option for me.
He tilted his head thoughtfully, then I heard a voice from above my head. Looking up, I saw Akari looking at us with a smile on her face.
"I'm sorry, I overheard what you said."
"Oh, it's fine."
"Thanks. Hey, how about this place if you want?"
She pointed her index finger down.
"Why don't you meet and talk at this restaurant?"
"What?..." I gasped. Amane also rolled his eyes and looked at Akari.
"I'm not going to charge you for this, of course. I'll only serve you one drink of your choice. You can stick around with a cup of coffee for hours."
I shook my head. "I appreciate the... kind words, but no, I can't. I can't accept that. I'm sorry."
"Oh, don't worry about it. I'm just saying that I'd rather you two come."
"Huh?" I tilted my head.
"I think that having young customers makes the atmosphere more lively and makes the restaurant feel young again. The regulars will be happy. I'm happy to pay you for your services, so I'd be delighted if you'd come."
"Yes..."
It was a grateful offer, but I was at a loss as to whether I should accept such kindness.

I was not able to answer her, but Akari, perhaps sensing my hesitation, continued.
Then let's do it this way. In the evening, when there are no part-timers and we are busy, we sometimes don't have enough time to take care of things. So it would be very helpful if you two could take orders and bring drinks. Besides..."
She looked at me and Amane and smiled.
"It would be great if you could play the piano for us sometimes. I'm sure that piano is missing you because no one plays it."
I looked at Amane with a start. I wondered if talking about the piano was off-limits for him. As I expected, he looked somewhat confused.
Somehow, I found myself saying, "I understand.
"I'll play then. It's been a long time and I'm not very good at it, but I'll practise... and when I get good at it, I'm sure I'll be able to play it someday."
"It's fine when you feel like it. It's not something you have to play. I'm sorry I asked you to play without considering your feelings. It's been a long time since you've played, but to suddenly play in front of people like that, it must have been embarrassing for you."
"No," I shook my head. "It's not like that. I was happy that you asked me to play. But, um, I wasn't sure... I'm sorry."
"It's okay, I'm sorry too. I hope you will play it here someday, even a long time from now, if you gain confidence in it."
I nodded this time. Then I looked at Amane.
"I'm sorry… I kind of went off on a tangent, was that okay?"
I let the conversation pass in the heat of the moment, but I wondered about him. Amane couldn't speak, but perhaps it might be a burden for him to help out at a coffee shop.

I was going to do as much as I could on my own, but I didn't think it was a good idea for me to accept this offer without his permission.
I looked at Amane's face and he smiled and moved his pen.
[I'll do my best to be of some help.]
Seeing those words, I was relieved. At the same time, I was filled with joy.
From now on, I would see and talk with Amane every day after school. Thinking of this, I had a feeling that my boring and meaningless after-school hours would become something wonderful.
I looked at Amane and Akari and bowed my head, saying, "I look forward to working with you."
Merry Christmas!🎄
