Lent Blessings 🤍
As we enter this Lenten season, may this be a time of reflection, renewal, and quiet strength. May our hearts grow softer, our faith deeper, and our hope stronger as we journey toward Easter.
For several days, I remained hospitalized at the Mimi Clinic.
Dr. Jens apparently wrote a letter to my father. In response, my father sent a reply urging me to reflect for a few days.
Nurse Julia not only cared for me but also showed kindness. When she learned that I was from the Silth Grand Duchy, she was appalled.
"For a noble lady to be so worn out and have scars on her back... It's terrible!"
She shed tears for me, which purified the dark emotions within me.
"Why didn't you ask for help?"
"Ask for help?"
I couldn't think of any other way to seek help besides marrying Klaus.
"If you don't want to go home, you can stay here."
"At the Mimi Clinic?"
"Yes. Let's assist Dr. Jens together."
Dr. Jens, the director of the Mimi Clinic, was a very gentle person. He was like a kind grandfather from a storybook.
"Dr. Jens will surely write a letter to the Silth Grand Duke."
"But even if Dr. Jens speaks, will my father listen?"
Dr. Jens was a former royal physician. Surely, even the Silth Grand Duke couldn't ignore him."
"In that case—"
For a while, I decided to stay here. I didn't want to return home or see my father and the wicked stepfamily's faces.
So, I became Dr. Jens's assistant at the Mimi Clinic.
---
A month passed since I was brought to the Mimi Clinic. I've fully recovered and am now working. Every day, I wear a clean white cotton coat with a navy dress and apron. I also have my own room, and the treatment is excellent. Three meals are provided, and it's customary to eat with Julia and the other nurses. Although it's not a large hospital, there are many patients every day. Treatment seems to be provided without distinction between nobles and commoners. I worked diligently every day as a nurse's assistant. Even though I had less work than when I worked at home, I earned a solid wage. Earning money through my own work is truly precious. Furthermore, I have two days off per week. On my days off, I buy and read books, go to cafes with Julia, or spend the whole day lazing around doing nothing. However, I need to face reality soon. A package arrived from home with the name Eikov on it. It was the torn dress. They probably want me to attend the debut party in high society wearing it. They even included an invitation.
*Sigh*
I can't ignore the invitation from Her Majesty. After this party, I'll quit being a noble. That's my decision. I haven't had any premonitions lately, so I don't know what will happen. But I've come to know the fulfilling life at the Mimi Clinic. I can never return to my old life again.
The debut party in high society is in ten days. First, I need to do something about the dress. Thankfully, I have some money saved up, so I'll buy a new dress. There's a possibility I can sell the torn dress somewhere. I take it with me.
I thought I'd get a new dress first, but all the white dresses in the shops were sold out. Even if I ordered now, it would take a year to complete. The Filbach's shop was crowded, and even the back entrance was packed with aspiring apprentices. It's a disaster. I lamented.
As I walked down the street, I collided with someone from behind. Losing my balance, I fell. The dress I was carrying flew out, and it was pulled by a carriage.
"Ah!"
The skirt is torn, the decoration is damaged, it's covered in blood, and there are clear wheel marks from being pulled by the carriage. It couldn't be worse.
The carriage that pulled the dress stops. I braced myself for scolding, but a hand is extended in front of me.
"I'm fine—"
When I looked up, I was shocked. Because the one offering his hand was Klaus.
"Oh, how coincidental."
"I thought I hit someone."
"The carriage pulled the dress."
Klaus frowned as he looked at the torn dress.
"Did it end up like this just from being pulled by the carriage?"
"No, the torn skirt, damaged decoration, and blood were originally special features."
Klaus sighed heavily and picked up the pitiful dress. Not only that, he grabbed my arm and helped me up, then started pulling my hand.
"Um, what is this?"
"My maternal grandmother's house."
Without knowing what was going on, I was helped down from the carriage.
