Chapter 7

Afternoon.

Zhuang Jiang sat cross-legged on a wool rug. Outside the window lay the boundless, crystalline blue sea.

And by her side was...

Tang Qing.

He was still dressed in his loungewear, head bowed as he meticulously brewed tea.

Perhaps sensing her gaze, he turned his head to look at her, offering a gentle smile. "What is it?"

Zhuang Jiang’s hand still rested on the cover of her half-opened book. Hearing him, she smiled back. "I’ve stolen a few days of leisure from this fleeting life. Is Qingqing not weary of it yet?"

These past few days had been the most comfortable of her life; even her sleep at night was more restful than ever before.

She and Tang Qing would wake early for walks and grocery shopping, spend the afternoons reading and brewing tea, and when evening came... they would either play the zither, paint, or sit on the sofa watching movies.

It truly was a stolen moment of peace in a hectic world.

Tang Qing held out a cup of tea to her, his face still wearing that warm, gentle expression. "If Jiangjiang is not weary, how could I ever be?"

"A cup of white tea from Anji. Jiangjiang, have a taste."

Zhuang Jiang closed her book, set it aside, and took the teacup from his hand. She recited softly, "Its branches spread wide, its leaves translucent and thin, born by chance amidst the cliffs and forests—"

She lowered her eyes, took a sip of the tea, and after a long moment, looked up at him. "This is indeed white tea."

Tang Qing smiled, sitting across from her. "My parents love this craft above all else. If Jiangjiang comes home with me, I’m afraid they’ll be overjoyed."

Zhuang Jiang tilted her head, looking at Tang Qing with a light chuckle. "Is Qingqing getting greedy?"

Tang Qing reached out to stroke her long hair, his voice low and tender. "Jiangjiang is too wonderful. You leave me no choice but to be greedy."

Zhuang Jiang set down the cup and rested her hands on his shoulders.

Then, she leaned down, a few strands of her long hair falling against his exposed neck and shoulder. "Fine."

Zhuang Jiang reached out to gently tilt his chin up, pressing a kiss against his lips... Amidst the lingering touch of their mouths, she whispered, "I allow you to be greedy."

As Tang Qing’s mind began to drift, he heard the tea water nearby still boiling incessantly.

He opened his eyes and spoke. "Jiangjiang, the tea..."

"Shh."

Zhuang Jiang reached out to cover his slightly parted lips. Then, she buried her face in the crook of his neck, whispering softly, "This is called…"

"Standing by with folded arms."

Evening.

Zhuang Jiang remained leaning against the doorframe, arms crossed as she watched Tang Qing’s silhouette while he stir-fried dinner. She had grown used to these days, and she had grown used to this man before her.

Such ordinary days—

A smile touched her eyes. For the first time, she felt that being able to return to the present... was actually quite good.

Zhuang Jiang’s phone rang. She turned and walked toward the sofa. When she saw the name displayed on the screen—

Her expression faltered with a hint of daze and a touch of hesitation.

She looked toward the kitchen for a long moment before walking into the bedroom, closing the door, and pressing the answer key.

Looking at her own reflection in the floor-to-ceiling window, Zhuang Jiang spoke. "Auntie Huo."

Huo Xiang’s voice came from the other end, calm and steady. "Where did you go?"

Zhuang Jiang didn't answer the question, only asking, "What’s the matter?"

Huo Xiang continued, "Director Zhang is currently casting the female lead for Lady Yun. I’ve signed you up—come to my place tomorrow to pick up the script."

"I’m not going."

Zhuang Jiang closed her eyes, her voice indifferent and weary. "That person’s wish... why should I be the one to fulfill it?"

"Auntie Huo, if there’s nothing else, I’m hanging up."

"Jiangjiang—"

Huo Xiang paused for a moment before speaking again. "Let’s meet. Tomorrow at 12 o'clock, the Starbucks on the first floor of Moore International."

Zhuang Jiang opened her eyes. After a long silence, she finally spoke. "Fine."

"See you tomorrow."

Huo Xiang hung up first after saying those words. Zhuang Jiang looked at the now silent phone, remaining quiet for a long time.

Until there was a knock at the door.

Zhuang Jiang finally snapped out of it. She tossed her phone onto the bed and walked out.

When the door opened, Tang Qing gave a light smile. "It’s time to eat."

Zhuang Jiang didn't say a word. She simply reached out and wrapped her arms around his waist, burying her head against his chest. "Qingqing."

"Hmm?"

Tang Qing looked at her with a smile, his hand stroking her hair. "What’s wrong?"

Zhuang Jiang looked up, taking in his gentle features under the warm glow of the lights...

Then, she stood on her tiptoes and kissed his lips.

Zhuang Jiang looked at him...

And then, she murmured softly, "Qingqing, let’s go to bed."

Zhuang Jiang lay on the bed.

Beneath her were smooth, black silk sheets.

And before her eyes was her Tang Qing, her Qingqing.

Tang Qing looked at her, beads of sweat already forming on his forehead and the tip of his nose. He was trying to restrain himself—

But beneath him was his Jiangjiang, the Jiangjiang he had adored for all these years.

How could he restrain himself? Where could he even find the strength to hold back?

"Jiangjiang, do you truly not regret this?"

Zhuang Jiang reached out to gently brush over his forehead, his nose, and his face.

Then, she propped herself up and lightly bit his chin. "I am—"

"Entirely willing."

Tang Qing lowered himself, kissing her picturesque face, her vivid lips, the bridge of her nose... Then he buried his head in her neck, inhaling her scent and nipping lightly. "Jiangjiang, from now on, you can never go back on your word."

His slender fingers slowly unbuttoned the first three buttons of her white shirt.

Tang Qing’s hand slid past her black shoulder strap. Looking at the soft curves, he whispered, "Warm jade and fragrant incense..."

Then, he nipped at her skin, suppressing himself, holding back.

Until he could no longer suppress it, could no longer hold back... Tang Qing gently pushed aside the clothes on her body, bowing his head to bite at those trembling pearls. He spoke one more time: "Lost in a dream of life and death."

Zhuang Jiang bit her lower lip, arching backward.

Her hair spread across the soft pillow, and her legs... slightly curled back from the sheer tremor of the moment.

Zhuang Jiang reached out to lightly circle his neck, her brows lifting slightly as her voice turned enchanting. "I am willing to be lost in that dream with Qingqing."

Then, she flipped over to be on top.

Her hand slid from his neck to his abdomen, undoing the buttons of his shirt.

Zhuang Jiang lowered her head, her hair falling over Tang Qing’s body, causing a slight itch that made him let out a muffled chuckle.

Tang Qing’s hands rested on her waist as he laughed softly. "Jiangjiang, it tickles..."

Zhuang Jiang looked up, an undeniable air of seduction in her eyes. "Where does it tickle?"

As soon as she said this, she buried herself against his chest, lightly biting at his nipple. "Here?"

"Or—"

Zhuang Jiang looked at Tang Qing. Sitting on his waist, she reached out to undo the remaining buttons on her own clothes.

Meanwhile, she shifted slightly backward until she reached his abdomen, then lowered her head to give a soft lick. "Here?"

Tang Qing gripped the sheets beneath him tightly, his voice strained. "Jiangjiang, don't move."

Zhuang Jiang gave a soft "oh" and truly didn't move.

But after just a moment, she spoke up, mimicking his earlier words. "Qingqing, don't move."

Tang Qing’s face flushed. He spoke in a low, slightly raspy voice. "I’m not moving."

Zhuang Jiang supported herself with her feet on the bed, shifting her body slightly away.

Yet her hand remained over him. She lifted her face, looking a bit aggrieved. "But, you really did move."

Tang Qing’s brow twitched, and he couldn't help but jump in response.

The flush on his face deepened. Fearing she would laugh at him like she did that day, he quickly flipped over to press her down. He pulled the sheets over both of them... He captured her lips, his hand reaching for her bra clasp. With a soft click, it came undone. He pressed down and bit her again, more heavily this time. "Do you still dare to do that next time?"

Zhuang Jiang was stunned for a moment, then she let out a soft laugh. "If it makes Qingqing act like this, then of course I’ll do it again."

Tang Qing froze, but eventually, he laughed along with her...

His Jiangjiang. This was his Jiangjiang.

His Jiangjiang...

She was truly different.

Tang Qing buried himself in her soft curves, lingering there.

Then, his hand slid downward, past her abdomen... He paused for a heartbeat, then without further hesitation, slid between. "Jiangjiang."

Zhuang Jiang looked up, her eyes slightly dazed as she let out a soft "Mm?"

Tang Qing didn't speak again; he couldn't speak anymore.

He surged forward, accompanied by an irrepressible, hoarse panting, thrusting into her.

Zhuang Jiang tried to pull away, but he held her firmly by the waist.

Tang Qing whispered into her ear, coaxing her gently, "Jiangjiang, be good..."

Be good, my foot!

It hurt like hell...

Zhuang Jiang couldn't speak. She bit down hard on his shoulder.

She never knew that besides being ticklish, she was actually afraid of pain... In her earlier years, she would get covered in injuries from wirework on set, yet she never once cried out in pain.

But this time, it really hurt.

An aching pain that reached her bones, pulling at her heart with every beat...

She noticed a metallic, rust-like taste in her mouth and realized she had bitten him too hard—he was bleeding.

Zhuang Jiang frowned, letting go to look at him. "Why didn't you make a sound?"

Tang Qing reached out to wipe the blood from her lips, saying softly, "I know Jiangjiang hurts more than I do."

Zhuang Jiang paused. After a long moment, she spoke. "You idiot."

"You big idiot."

Under the warm yellow light, the sight of his restrained expression entered her eyes and settled into her heart... She wrapped her arms around his neck, biting her lip to suppress the ache, and suddenly surged forward.

"Mmh."

"Ah..."

That one movement from Zhuang Jiang made them both cry out.

She looked down—

This time, there was no space left between them... Then, she relaxed her hands, sprawling out on the bed.

Her hair clung to her body. She was damp all over and had no strength left.

Tang Qing looked at her, a sense of satisfaction mingling with heartache.

He leaned down, kissing her eyes, his forehead resting against hers... One hand reached down to press against her lower back, massaging it as he called her name softly. "My Jiangjiang."

The sky outside was gradually beginning to brighten.

Yet the two of them still hadn't rested. Tang Qing held Zhuang Jiang, thrusting again and again, sometimes gently, sometimes heavily.

Surging upward like a downpour, overflowing like a tilted vessel.

Zhuang Jiang reached out to circle his neck, lightly biting his earlobe. Her eyes held the contentment of fulfillment as she spoke in a soft, tender voice, "My Qingqing."
