(2,3) UNTIL OUR MIRACLE REACHES YOUR HEART - CHAPTER 2, PART 3

Through the automatic door that opened, a man and a woman of about the same age came in side by side. The girl looked somewhat familiar, and I gazed at her profile for a few seconds.

"I have seen that girl before," Walnut, who had followed my gaze, says.

She has long, fluffy hair, pure white skin, big eyes, and pink lips. Large eyes and pink lips. Where had I seen her before, this fragile and pretty girl?

"I think it was a girl one year younger than me. I think it was the girl who was rumored to be very cute at last year's entrance ceremony. Her name…. What was it ......."

"Maho Totsuka."

The name was suddenly uttered and when I turned to my right, Takumi was standing right next to me after he had finished taking out the items. Takumi raised one hand in the air and walked straight to the checkout counter.

I see, it's the girl Takumi was talking about at school. I didn't recognize her at first because of her plain clothes.

I looked at her again as she was happily conversing with a tall man and browsing the candy shelves. I wondered if it was her boyfriend who was with her. His face is so loose.

In contrast to the smiling Walnut, Takumi's expression did not show any emotion. The image just seems to be reflected in his eyes.

After circling the convenience store, the two came back with snacks and drinks. Then she noticed Takumi's figure at the checkout counter.

"Oh, it's Takumi-senpai! You work part-time here, don't you?"

Her voice was sweet like cotton candy. She ran up to the counter with a smile on her face. She then turned to her boyfriend, who was staring at her blankly, and said, "He's a senior at school."

"A date? Sounds like fun."

Takumi smiles and receives the candy from her hand and scans it. However, his eyes never turn straight to her smile.

Takumi, who believes in "eye contact is a must when dealing with girls," does not look up at this cute girl.

"When Takumi-senpai is around, I'll come back to buy some more."

Takumi, who sounded as if he was about to make a heart mark at the end of his sentence, only smiled faintly and did not look up. Then he told her the amount in a very light tone, "One thousand fifteen yen.

°°°°

"I saw her up close for the first time and she was so cute and beautiful."

"Well, she certainly looked like a doll."

I think that Walnut is prettier and Rizakura is more beautiful. But I did not say.

"Takumi must like her."

"Oh, yeah...... huh? Takumi likes who?"

I and Walnut were walking along the usual seaside path toward the bus stop. The manager, who came to work after that, thought that Walnut was my girlfriend and got very excited. The manager ordered me to take her to the bus stop for a break. Takumi, by the way, was the cashier.

But what did Walnut suddenly say? We were talking about a cute junior student named Totsuka-chan, so why did she bring up the subject of Takumi's love for someone else?

I couldn't see the context of the conversation.

"Who does Takumi like ......?"

"Totsuka-chan."

No, no, no, no, no way. She is indeed a fluffy girl that Takumi seemed to like, and even her voice is cute.

"You seemed rather bitter about it. Well, why?"

"Because, you know, Takumi wouldn't even make eye contact with that girl."

I remember Takumi and Totsuka standing side by side and I groaned a little. Both of them are indeed beautiful, and it is not hard to say that they are a good match.

The most comfortable composition for me, however, is Takumi with Rio next to her. Regardless of whether they are in love or not, it seems more natural for them to be together.

"Well, I can understand why Takumi would behave that way after encountering a situation like that."

I nodded my head at Walnut, who nodded her head with a guilty look on her face.

"What do you mean? According to my statistics, Takumi acting like that is only something he would do to someone he is not good at."

"Leaf is good at grasping people's feelings, but he's pretty out of touch when it comes to romance."

"That's not true."

I'm not sure how I could have said that, but it's true. I have almost no experience in love.

I'm not sure how much of a difference it makes to how people feel when it comes to love.

"Then, do you say that walnuts are masters of romance?"

"At least I have more experience in love than Leaf!"

I'm a little peeved at her bragging so proudly.

 Now there's a side of Walnut I don't know.

I thought that I didn't know her at all.

She unwrapped her hands from around her waist and then fluffed her hair over her ears. The gesture was so graceful that it made my heart skip a beat.

I'm still in the middle of a one-sided love.

She turned around and the air around her seemed to have a faint cherry blossom color to it.

I wonder if I am imagining things.

—Fall in love. For me, it's an unknown world. But I wonder if the reason why walnuts sometimes look so beautiful is because she is in love.

"Ah, here comes the bus."

A blue bus slides into the bus stop lit by streetlights. I opened my mouth to avoid wanting to hear about the unrequited love of Walnut.

"I'll make sure to clear up any misunderstandings the manager may have."

With a poof, the lights of the bus dazzle us. The bus stopped with a puff of air and the doors opened, and Walnut climbed into the bus and turned around.

"I don't mind leaving it like that," she said.

"......What?"

Pshhhh. Along with the sound that was spit out again, her figure softly vanishes. With a whimper, the bus door closed.

Standing on the other side of the window, she looked like a child who had successfully pulled a prank and said, "Goodbye," with her mouth agape.

Needless to say, I was unable to move for a while at the empty bus stop.

I really don't understand the thought process of a girl in love.
