CHAPTER 1 - CHEATED ON
Yun Qingqiao, a beautiful and intelligent third-year medical student at Z University, stepped out of the library with a stack of books in her arms. It was only then that she had the time to check her phone.
Several unread messages awaited her on WeChat. One was from her boyfriend, Lin Maosheng: "Qingqiao, I have to go to the hospital for my internship and submit a report today, so I can't miss it. Let's cancel our afternoon date and reschedule. Love you!"

I have plans," the first message read. The second said, "Love you, wish me luck!" followed by a kissing emoji.
Yun Qingqiao, stunningly beautiful and intellectually gifted, had earned her place at Z University by exceeding the competitive exam threshold by 58 points. Many believed she could easily have pursued an entertainment career and become a star overnight with her good looks alone.
Lin Maosheng was the golden boy of the medical school—handsome, charming, and admired by many. Despite this, he had spent considerable effort pursuing Yun Qingqiao. Together, they were the campus’s most ideal couple, epitomizing the term "Golden boy and jade girl."
With her boyfriend busy at work and her best friend unavailable, Qingqiao had lunch with her roommates in Z University's renowned cafeteria. After lunch, remembering that Lin Maosheng’s cat needed care, she headed over to his rented apartment near his internship site.
Upon arriving, she removed the spare key hidden under the doormat and unlocked the door. As she entered, she was shocked by what she saw. "Who is it?" someone shouted. The small studio apartment left little to the imagination. On the bed were two intertwined, naked bodies.
The cat food she had been holding clattered to the floor.
The man on the bed hastily covered himself with a pillow and pleaded, "Qingqiao, let me explain!"
The woman, clutching the sheet to her chest, stammered, "Babe, I..."
The only person who called her 'Babe' was her best friend, Ma Jiaojiao.
Yun Qingqiao stood there, stunned.
Her boyfriend was in bed with her best friend.
For a moment, she felt as if the world was crumbling around her. Strangely calm, she finally spoke, "You both started this a long time ago, didn't you? Jiaojiao, you always said you envied me. I foolishly thought you were talking about my major."
Lin Maosheng scrambled to pull on his pants and cautiously approached Qingqiao, attempting to hug her. She pushed him away with surprising force.
"Lin Maosheng, I was wrong about you. But why? Why would you do this to me?" Her voice was steady, but the betrayal cut deep. Love had made her just as vulnerable and mundane as anyone else; even when cheated on, she still needed to ask—why?
