Chapter 1: She is the Real Heiress
"It seems to be her... the Ruan family's real heiress."
"I heard she was switched at birth."
"The Ruan family raised a fake daughter for eighteen years, what a tragedy..."
In the luxurious high-end restaurant, Yun Ci sat in a chair wearing a plain T-shirt and jeans that had been washed until they were faded white, her feet in flip-flops swinging leisurely.
Yet even so, her beauty couldn't be hidden.
A natural beauty!
She lazily tilted her head, listening to the observers' discussions around her, only curling her lips in disdain.
It wasn't until the chewing gum in her mouth had almost lost its flavor that she saw Ye Meipan rushing over with a paternity test in hand.
She threw her arms around Yun Ci, tears streaming down her face: "My daughter! It's all Mom's fault for letting you suffer so much. Mom will take you home right now!"
Yun Ci had lived in a poor, remote place for eighteen years, but was now suddenly told that due to being switched at birth, she and another girl had their lives swapped.
She wasn't some poor country girl, and her mom wasn't her real mom. She was the real heiress of the Ruan family in the capital.
Eighteen years of raising the wrong daughter left Ye Meipan heartbroken, but Yun Ci remained coldly indifferent, finding it all rather annoying.
...
Sitting in the car, Ye Meipan seemed somewhat nervous. After hesitating for a long time, she asked: "Mom heard that... you disappeared for a period three years ago. Can you tell Mom what happened? Mom has no ill intentions, just purely concerned about you."
Actually, she had already investigated. Yun Ci had grown up in an impoverished village and was completely uneducated, always scoring last in exams, constantly skipping school, fighting, and hanging around with a bunch of delinquents.
Especially three years ago, when she had disappeared for a period without reason. Some said she had committed a crime and was imprisoned, others said she was kept by a wealthy man.
Ye Meipan wanted to find out whether these various misdeeds were true or false.
If they were true and word got out, the Ruan family would truly lose all face!
Yun Ci was squinting her eyes like a lazy cat, her slender fingers twisting the hair by her ear, answering slowly: "I don't remember."
She had lost that period of memory.
Ye Meipan was momentarily speechless.
What a difficult child...
...
The car stopped outside the Ruan residence, where everyone was standing at the door waiting. Ye Meipan brought Yun Ci before Ruan Bingde.
"Ah Ci, this is your father."
The stern-faced Ruan Bingde was now in tears, excitedly embracing Yun Ci: "Good child... you've suffered so much outside all these years. It's good that you're back... good that you're back..."
Ye Meipan then pointed to another handsome, refined young man: "This is your brother, Ruan Xichen."
Ruan Xichen was expressionless, his tone cold: "Welcome."
The servants bowed respectfully with strange expressions.
How could their real young miss be like this?
Just then, sensing an unusual gaze, Yun Ci slightly raised her phoenix eyes and accurately caught sight of a girl standing behind the door.
The girl wore an exquisite, beautiful dress, her small leather shoes spotless and gleaming, her smooth hair obediently tucked behind her ears. About the same age as her, she was examining Yun Ci with hostile eyes.
Ye Meipan waved to the girl: "Feiyue, come here."
The girl reluctantly walked over.
Without introduction, Yun Ci knew this was the girl whose life had been switched with hers.
This girl's name, the love she received, the happiness she enjoyed - all of it originally belonged to her.
Ye Meipan spoke in a consulting tone: "Ah Ci, although Feiyue isn't my biological daughter, I've raised her as my own for eighteen years. Now asking Feiyue to leave, she has nowhere to go, so we've decided... to let Feiyue continue staying in the house... you won't mind, will you? Don't worry, we absolutely won't show favoritism."
