Chapter 105: If so, who would you choose?
Yin Haoyu immediately chimed in, "This looks like wild eggs. We have another fresh ingredient on our menu today! Xia Xia, you are amazing. I couldn't find them even if I searched."
Although everyone echoed Yin Haoyu's words, Min Xiaxia only brought back four eggs. Even though she appreciated the support, she felt that her contribution was not as impressive as the dozen or so fish Shen Jingchuan caught.
This made her unhappy. She wanted to be the center of attention, but reality seemed to always fall short of her expectations. After enjoying a rich lunch, the rain started to pour even heavier.
As the team leader, Jing Hao looked worried at the grey and misty sea ahead of them.
"The weather on the island is unpredictable. If it keeps raining like this, we won't be able to leave the campsite and we won't have enough food."
"Then let's make some rain gear," Xu He suggested. "Today, Qin Yan and I collected a lot of palm hair from the palm trees. After repairing the walls, we have plenty of palm leaves and bamboo that we can use to make hats and raincoats."
"We are around the same age, and when we were young, we used materials like these to make makeshift raincoats on rainy days. I think making a simple version shouldn't be too difficult."
Jing Hao nodded, "I know how to weave hats. I learned it from my grandfather when I was young."
"Great!" Min Xiaxia raised her hand, "Since we can't go out in the rain, let's make them in the campsite this afternoon. Is there anything I can do, or should you assign tasks, Brother Hao?"
Since they would not be going out in the afternoon, it meant that everyone would be in the same place, and Min Xiaxia needed to make sure she could always be seen.
Throughout the afternoon, she shuttled between various camera angles for the film crew. Although she occasionally got in the way, she didn't cause any major issues.
Time flew by in their busyness, and soon it was nighttime.
Unlike the previous night, everyone suddenly heard some noise while they were sleeping.
Soon after, someone in the campsite screamed.
It turned out that a mouse had gotten in and ran around on everyone's sleeping bags.
A few men got up and made the fire burn brighter, improving the situation.
With this sudden disturbance in the night, no one slept well.
As a result, when they woke up the next day, everyone had dark circles under their eyes to varying degrees.
Qin Yan had several large bites on her neck from an unknown insect.
It wasn't just her, Yin Haoyu and Jing Hao had them too.
Qin Yan went to ask Min Xiaxia for insect repellent, but it ran out after just one spray.
However, she could smell the strong scent of insect repellent coming from Min Xiaxia's sleeping bag.
Qin Yan didn't say anything.
But the results were obvious - Min Xiaxia had used up all the insect repellent on her own.
Everyone couldn't stop the itching and felt a bit irritable.
But there were even worse things waiting for them.
When Wen Yan walked out of the campsite, she discovered that all the fish they hung on the branches next to the campsite the previous night were gone!
There were even remnants of sea bream on the ground!
"Damn, it seems like our food storage was stolen by the neighbors in the jungle! We were planning to have fish soup this morning, but it seems like we won't have any now."
"Don't worry." Seeing Wen Yan's worried expression, Shen Jingchuan made a bold claim from a distance, "I will go fishing again later and catch even more this time!"
But when he went to get the fishing line from his bag, he found that the line had been chewed to pieces by the sneaky mouse from the previous night!
Seeing this scene, everyone was dumbfounded.
After a moment of dizziness, Jing Hao began to summarize.
"It seems like we were too optimistic. After the successful teamwork of the past two days, I thought this challenge would be easy. After all, this island has abundant resources, and we have built a place to stay.
"But Mother Nature has taught us a harsh lesson. We can't go out when it rains. The campsite is basic, and there are mice and other insects at night, which can potentially bring us diseases.
"Even the food we managed to collect cannot be stored properly. Surviving in the wild is really not easy, much harder than I imagined. Comrades, the revolution is not yet successful, we still need to work hard!"
When the rain finally eased up a bit, everyone continued to work together. Some went out to search for food, while others stayed behind to make rain gear and reinforce the walls.
They continued on like this for the next two days until the sky finally cleared. During this time, they gathered firewood and built denser fences to prevent mice.
Craftsman Jing Hao even made traps to catch the mice.
But no one dared to eat those mice.
Fortunately, besides fish, they also caught wild chickens in the jungle.
They smoked the excess food and hung it on the roof to prevent wild animals from stealing their reserves.
All these experiences were lessons learned from their failures.
Although the process was rocky and much more difficult than expected, they ultimately managed to survive on the island for seven days.
On the last day, at the request of the program crew, the seven guests needed to dismantle the camp they had built.
Thus, the first season of "Jungle Diary: Island Edition" came to a close.
Before leaving the island, the program crew conducted personal interviews with each guest, asking them to share their thoughts.
During this segment, the program crew also slightly hinted at the possible format of the next season. In this segment, the production team also revealed a bit about the format that might be used in the next season.
The director asked the guests, "If the next season adopts a team survival format, who would you prefer to choose as your partner?"
Jinghao's answer was cleverly worded, not offending anyone: "I am honored to have been chosen as the team captain this season, and I am open to anyone. If the next season follows this format, then everyone can choose first. It would be my honor no matter who chooses me."
Xuhe's reply was, "If I had to choose, it would be Jinghao. Do we really have to be in teams of two? Can't we have more people? It's difficult to accomplish tasks with just two people. As you have seen these past few days, survival in the wilderness isn't as simple as imagined."
The director said, "We don't have enough people, so we have to invite a guest to join."
"Then let's invite someone. Maybe the audience also wants to see some new faces."
When it was Yinhao Yu's turn, his answer was very focused, and the live audience already guessed it even before he spoke.
"Xiaxia, I want to choose Xiaxia."
"I can see that. You two have worked together before, and the bond is different. Next, we will interview Xiaxia and see if it will be a mutual choice between you two," the director said.
When it was Min Xiaxia's turn, she confidently said the name 'Alex Shen'.
However, the production team wasn't surprised by her answer no matter what came out of her mouth.
And the production team was satisfied with this answer, as the bullet comments in the live chat exploded once again.
The only mutual choice in this case was between Wen yan and Qinyan.
The audience was also satisfied with this result: 'Ah, sisterly love is the best. I like watching beautiful sisters, and now I get to see two at once."
And Shen Jingchuan, who was the most anticipated by the live audience, was saved for last by the director.
Finally, after saving a life, this variety show was finally finished, T-T.
