Christmas Update!!!!
The days since then have passed without colour.
In my own way, I was doing my best to make an effort. I frequently talked to Walnut and continued to talk to Rizakura, who is mostly seated nearby, as usual. At first, she was wary of me, but she gradually relaxed, and nowadays she even giggled at my stories.
I apologised to Rizakura for my mistake that day. She laughed and said, "It's past and I've forgotten about it", and now our relationship has been restored to the point where we could have a small conversation.
Even so, things could not be completely back to normal.
'Rizakura's at prep school, Takumi's on a date, and Walnut is... at a study group with the kids.'
How had the four of us spent time together until now? We were so scattered that we didn't even know that.

'I wish I could go back in time...'
Kurumi eventually became a member of the 'Bright Girls' Group', and while Rio treated everyone without discrimination, she no longer hung out with anyone in particular.
The title of Totsuka-chan's boyfriend had become a synonym for Takumi, and I spent my lunch break chomping on the roof, and after school, when I was on leave from my part-time job, I spent my time in the library, passing the time idly before going home.
"I hear it's going to start raining heavily, so I'd better go home early."
Today, too, I was in the library looking out the window, depressed, when Takano-san said while reading a thick novel at the front of the room, and fiddling with her phone with one hand.

"Heavy rain? Even though it's so sunny?"
I looked up slightly and dropped my head to the desk again. A hard picture book separated my cheek and the desk.
"If Ishikura stays, I won't be able to close the library. What will you do if I get wet in heavy rain?"
Ms. Takano's face revealed a troubled expression. It seemed that Takano-san wanted to leave early.
I reluctantly gather up my belongings and leave the library. On my way to the entrance, I saw Takumi and Totsuka studying in an empty classroom with their heads together. They were happily laughing and showing each other their notebooks.
'Do they know about the rain?'
I stopped to call out to them, but then they moved away again. I guessed Takumi would be happy as long as Totsuka was around, no matter if it's raining hard or thundering.
Takumi was no longer the person he used to be when he was with us.
'Well, as long as everyone doesn't get soaked in the rain and catch a cold, it's fine.'
As long as they're happy and laughing, that's all that matters.
After thinking about this, I realised that no one really cared about me, and I felt a dull creak in my chest.

I changed into my sports shoes and walked alone along the seaside path where I used to walk alongside everyone else. I just walked with my hands in my pockets.
The sea occasionally made a noise. The smell of damp rain mixed in with the sea breeze, and in no time at all, rain clouds covered the sky.
"What the hell, is it really going to rain?"
Just after I swore, as if on cue, a few drops of rain fell on my cheeks. In no time at all, it changed into large drops, and even a strong wind began to blow. If I had been carrying an umbrella, it would have been swallowed up by the sky already.
Then I suddenly thought of something.
I wondered if the cat would be all right.
Since the day of the closing ceremony, we had not visited that square together. Even so, when I went there, there were shelled cans on the table and dirty towels had been replaced with new ones, so I guessed Takumi and Rizakura must have come to take care of the cat in their own way.
Now it felt as if that cat was the only thing that connected us together.

"I thought I'd let you meet Kurumi one day…"
Recently, I had even forgotten that I had thought about that. Or perhaps I was trying not to think about it.
Large drops of rain came down mercilessly. I glared up sharply at the grey enemy who made it rain. A gust of wind that could tear off earlobes would be a big threat to a small cat. If a tidal wave came, it would not not be safe, even if there is an embankment.
"Hurry, I must hurry."
I ran in the opposite direction to the house. The wind and rain were trying to push me back, but I was fighting against them.
I wanted to save that cat. I really wanted to protect that little existence that connected us. This time, I didn't want to lose it.
When I finally arrived at the square, I hurried to look for the kitten. However, I couldn't find it in the bushes or in the soaked cardboard box. My shoes were soaked to the inside, and every time I took a step, I felt an unpleasant sensation inside my shoes.
"Come out, it's okay. You were scared, you're safe now. I'll protect you, I promise."
There was no one there but me. The place where there had been four of us and a cat was empty now.
"Where did I go wrong?"
The words that spilled out followed the heavy drops of rain down to the ground.

"I just cared and wanted to be with them all."
Why was that? What went wrong? No, everything was great. It was me who broke it.
We were having so much fun, we were so happy. I should have cherished it.
Suddenly my vision became brighter. A dazzling light shone down on me, as if to split the monochromatic sea and sky. The light flicked several times, and I involuntarily squinted.
At that moment, I was struck by a spell of dizziness and lost my consciousness in the light.
Merry Christmas!🎄
