Nurse Su, noticing Yun Qingqiao's furrowed brow over her title, lightened the mood, saying, "Lady Ye, look at our young mistress. She's the spitting image of her mother when she was just a few years older. With such beauty at a young age, she's sure to grow up into something extraordinary!"

Lady Ye was visibly moved. "Indeed, the daughters of the Ye family have always been stunning beauties, but whether such beauty is a blessing or a..." She trailed off, unable to finish her thought.

After some pleasantries, Lady Ye took the letter and jade pendant to seek out the old Marquis.

Yun Qingqiao didn't know the letter's contents, but judging by their expressions, it must be important. The sincerity in how they treated her was unmistakable and not feigned.

This made her think of her grandmother in the modern world. Her grandmother, who was nearing eighty, still often made sure she ate well and dressed warmly. It was a kind of care that made you feel like, 'Grandma thinks you're hungry; Grandma thinks you're cold.' Now, she found herself in this unfamiliar ancient world, uncertain even of the dynasty she was in, let alone her future. She wondered how her grandmother, parents, and brother were doing with her sudden disappearance. They must be heartbroken. Her friends, like Sanbao, must miss her too, perhaps yearning for their days of eating hot pot and sipping wine. As for Lin Maosheng and Ma Jiajia, the despicable duo must be relieved by her presumed death in the avalanche. She wondered if they would ever feel a pang of guilt.

After several days of rest, Yun Qingqiao felt primarily recovered.

Remarkably, the original owner of this body was also named Yun Qingqiao. Even more surprising was how closely this young body resembled her childhood appearance; the likeness was striking, with the only difference being the ancient attire. If fate had granted her a second chance to live in this old world, she was determined to make the most of it.

She learned from others that the current continent of Jiuzhou was comprised of dozens of smaller nations, though only four were truly powerful. These smaller countries regularly paid tributes to the four major nations in exchange for protection and blessings. While there were minor tensions between countries, the balance of power maintained among the four major nations ensured a surface-level peace.

Yun Qingqiao found herself in Da Rui, one of the four powerful nations, officially known as the Da Rui Dynasty, in the 19th year of the Tianqi era. This was a dynasty she had never come across in her history books, leaving her, someone who was well-versed in ancient Chinese history, at a loss. Unable to foresee the future, she felt useless, like a hero with no battles to fight.

She was residing in the mansion of her maternal grandfather, the Duke of Dingnan, in Chuzhou. The elderly duke was her grandfather on her mother's side.

In the days since Yun Qingqiao awoke, her grandfather had been busy with some unknown arrangements. He sent different people to inquire about her well-being each day, and among them were several young men just a few years older than her. She was curious to meet her grandfather and discover what kind of man he was to have risen to his current position.

One day, Yun Qingqiao was about to share a funny story with Lady Ye about the young servants her grandfather had recently sent. "Maternal grandmother, let me tell you—"

She was interrupted before she could finish her sentence.

"What 'maternal grandmother'? Call her Grandmother! Young lady, you are a direct descendant of the Ye family. Call me Grandfather; I don't like that 'maternal' prefix; it sounds so distant!" A powerful voice emanated from the doorway. There stood the elder Duke Ye, striding in like a dragon and a tiger combined. Despite his graying hair, he was robust, full of vitality, and commanded an awe-inspiring presence.
