Hearing Wang Lin's offer to help, Sun FeiFei felt a glimmer of hope rise within her. However, recalling that Wang Lin was just a junior employee, likely without much money, her heart sank again.

"Thank you for your kind offer," she said softly.

"I'm grateful that you're willing to help, but the surgery costs one hundred thousand dollars, and you—"

Wang Lin interrupted her,

"Fei, I told you, leave this to me. You don't have to worry.

And the people who did this to Zheng? I'll make sure they pay for it."

For some reason, Sun FeiFei felt an inexplicable surge of trust as she looked into Wang Lin's determined eyes.

"Thank you, Wang Lin," she whispered. "I'll pay you back for this."

"First, let's go see Zheng," said Wang Lin.

He wanted to find out who could be so cruel as to break Zheng Xian's hands. Sun FeiFei and Zheng Xian were good people; who could they possibly have offended to deserve such a fate?

When they arrived at the hospital room, Wang Lin was furious. Because they hadn't paid, Zheng Xian hadn't received surgery. Instead, his hands had merely been bandaged, and he had been left in the hospital room, uncared for.

Standing next to the bed and looking at a battered Zheng Xian, Wang Lin felt his anger surge. His fists clenched as he asked in a low voice,

"Fei, who did this?"

"Ah, Wang Lin, you're here," Zheng Xian opened his eyes and said weakly,

"I'll be fine, just give me some time."

"Who did this?" Wang Lin looked at Sun FeiFei, his eyes intense.

The injuries on Zheng Xian's body clearly weren't accidental; someone had intentionally hurt him.

No matter who it was, Wang Lin was determined to get justice for both of them.

"It was—"

"It's nothing, I fell," Zheng Xian interrupted Sun FeiFei, forcing a smile.

The effort made him wince in pain, however, as it pulled at the wounds on his face.

"Do you expect me to believe that you could get hurt this badly from a fall?" Wang Lin's face darkened. Clearly, Zheng Xian was afraid of whoever had hurt him.

"Zheng, I know you're concerned for me, afraid that I'll get involved and get hurt too. But I've got this," Wang Lin assured him.

"First, let's get your surgery done. Don't worry about the money, I'll handle it."

After saying this, Wang Lin left the room to handle the payment. Zheng Xian's primary injuries were his broken arms; the rest, though they looked horrific, were not serious. Thus, Wang Lin knew the hospital could handle setting the broken bones without him.

Once the payment was made, a surgeon was immediately arranged. Wang Lin couldn't help but muse, 'Indeed, money rules the world.'

"Wang Lin, you haven't been going to work lately. Did you find a new job?" Sun FeiFei asked as they waited outside the operating room.

She had initially thought something had happened to Wang Lin, but given today's events, it didn't seem that way.

"It's not like that. I've just been busy lately, so I haven't been going to work," Wang Lin explained.

At that moment, the idea of acquiring Hengfeng Company crossed his mind.

With a billion in hand and the Hengfeng Company valued at only a hundred million, Wang Lin found the idea of acquiring it increasingly appealing. He had worked there before and was familiar with its operations, making management easier.

"Is that so? I can't thank you enough for today. I don't know what I would have done without you," Sun FeiFei said, noticing that Wang Lin didn't want to elaborate.

Having worked in the corporate world for years, she knew when to press for details and when not to.

"Fei, once Zheng is back on his feet, I'll need both of your help," Wang Lin said earnestly.

Since he wouldn't be frequently present at the company, he'd need someone to represent him. Sun FeiFei and Zheng Xian, with their years at Hengfeng, were undoubtedly the best choices.

"What do you need us to do? Whatever we can, we'll help," Sun FeiFei replied.

"We'll discuss it later. It'll definitely be a good opportunity," Wang Lin said cryptically, adding,

"And I'm sure you'll find it easy to handle."

Three hours later, the door to the operating room opened, and Zheng Xian was wheeled out and transferred to a patient room.

"Now, can you tell me who's responsible for all this?" Wang Lin asked again once they settled into the patient room.

Seeing that Wang Lin was intent on knowing, Sun FeiFei hesitated before finally speaking,

"The Yang family... Yang Zhen."

Upon hearing that it was another member of the Yang family, a flash of fierceness crossed Wang Lin's eyes.

"The Yangs are really asking for trouble!"

"Wang Lin, you mustn't act rashly. The Yangs are a powerful family; they're not someone we can afford to offend," Sun FeiFei warned, noticing the dark look on Wang Lin's face.

She was afraid that Wang Lin's impulsiveness might drag him into trouble with the Yang family.

"Don't worry, Fei, I won't act recklessly," Wang Lin reassured her, regaining his composure.

"But rest assured, this matter isn't over. Whoever hurt Zheng will pay for it."

"Wang Lin, remember, peace is most valuable. Don't act without thinking," Sun FeiFei softly urged, genuinely concerned for him.

"Don't worry, I know what I'm doing," Wang Lin comforted her.

"I'll transfer an additional hundred thousand dollars to you. Use it to buy some nourishing supplements for Zheng, and take some time off work yourself. If you need more, just let me know."

Saying this, Wang Lin took out his phone and transferred the amount to Sun FeiFei. Upon receiving the payment confirmation message, Sun FeiFei couldn't help but tear up. In her time of need, the person who had once been under her care reached out to help, while all her so-called 'good friends' stayed far away, avoiding her like the plague.

"Stop crying, Fei, or you'll ruin your looks," Wang Lin joked, wiping away her tears.

"I've got some things to take care of, so I won't be able to stay with you and Zheng. Call me if you need anything."
