"Wait, is selling my shop illegal or something?" Xie San stared at the men, his gaze lingering on the dent in the counter.

"Of course not," the lead thug said gravely.

"It's just that our young master had his eye on this place. We were giving you a chance to hand it over willingly."

"And it seems like that ship has sailed," he added.

"May I ask who this young master is?" Xie San cautiously inquired, suspecting that the young master wasn't someone to be trifled with. He was already regretting selling the shop to Wang Lin.

"Look, the contract's signed, and I've got the deposit. No going back now."

"Our young master is none other than Huang Jin, the second son of the Huang family!" the thug boasted.

"One of the top five families' second son, Huang Jin?" Xie San felt dizzy, almost fainting.

Huang Jin had a notorious reputation for getting what he wanted, often without even paying for it. Now that he had his sights set on Xie San's clinic, refusing him would likely bring trouble.

So Xie San turned to Wang Lin with a pleading look.

"Mr. Wang, I'll give your deposit back. Just look for another shop. We can't afford to cross the Huang family."

Although Xie San was scared, Wang Lin was far from it. He had already paid a deposit for the shop he wanted; there was no way he'd just hand it over.

Moreover, Xie San's reaction confirmed his suspicions that Huang Jin was a regular troublemaker. Otherwise, why would the mere mention of his name scare Xie San into surrendering a shop worth three million?

So Wang Lin decided to put this spoiled brat in his place.

"Who the heck is Huang Jin to think he can just take my shop? Tell him this place is mine now, and there's no way I'm giving it to him. If he wants it, he can come tell me himself!"

When Wang Lin spoke, everyone was stunned — the three thugs and Xie San, who literally collapsed to the floor.

Xie San couldn't fathom why this unassuming young man was so bold. Did he not know about the Huang family's clout?

'He must not know how powerful the Huang family is. That's the only explanation…' Xie San reassured himself internally.

Shakily getting to his feet, Xie San leaned in and whispered to Wang Lin,

"Kid, the Huang family is one of the top five families in Luo City. We can't mess with them. I'll return your deposit. Just go, pretend you were never here."

Xie San's words made Wang Lin look at him with new eyes. Initially, he thought Xie San was a timid guy. Turns out, he had some backbone after all. Wang Lin replied,

"Don't worry. The Huang family? They're no big deal to me."

"Ha! No big deal?" One of the thugs laughed sarcastically.

"Kid, you're really naive. Do you have any idea how powerful the Huang family is? They could make you disappear in Luo City with a single word!"

"But," the thug smirked, "if you slap yourself ten times right now and kneel to apologize, maybe, just maybe, I'll let you go. Otherwise, you'll be leaving here horizontally, not vertically!"

Seeing the tension, Xie San stepped in.

"Gentlemen, please, he's just young and foolish," he said meekly. He then reached behind the counter, grabbed a wad of cash, and handed it to the lead thug.

"I'll hand over the shop to young Master Huang tomorrow."

The lead thug looked at the wad of cash in his hand, totaling a bit over 20,000, and sneered,

"Hmph, at least you know your place. Fine, I won't make it hard for him. Just get him out of here."

"Of course, of course. Thank you, sirs. We're leaving now," Xie San said, plastering a fake smile on his face.

He tried to pull Wang Lin away, but it was like Wang Lin was welded to his seat—he wouldn't budge. Xie San started to sweat bullets.

Wang Lin patted Xie San on the back, stood up, and said calmly,

"As I mentioned, this shop is now mine. If your young master wants it, tell him to come and talk to me himself."

"You're asking for trouble, kid!" the lead thug barked angrily.
