Zhou Yi was just that kind of person – untamed and sharp-edged. His words never left room for niceties. In his own characteristic way, he'd say, "You don't hit someone in the face when you hit them, so why would I hit anyone? You don't expose someone's weaknesses when you curse them, so what's the point of cursing them at all?"
As Zhou Yi's words faded, the smile on Zhou Yan's face didn't falter, though a touch of insincere apology crept in. "Ah Yi, believe it or not, that incident was truly just a misunderstanding. Mom and Qi Qi never imagined Yingying's alcohol tolerance would be so poor."
Zhou Yi drained the glass of wine Zhou Yan offered in one go, a sardonic smile playing on his lips. "Everyone looks pretty virtuous from a distance."
Zhou Yan was left speechless.
Zhou Yi returned the empty glass to Zhou Yan, reaching out to pat his shoulder. He leaned in close, "Are you worried I'll compete with you for the position of Zhou Corporation's CEO? Don't worry..."
He paused for a few seconds before continuing in a low voice, "...I absolutely will compete with you."
Zhou Yan's smile remained refined. "Ah Yi, you've misunderstood me. If you want the CEO position, I won't fight you for it."
Zhou Yi straightened up and stepped back, his smile unrestrained. "That's perfect then. I do want it. Please trouble yourself to tell Grandpa. I believe he'll definitely agree."
The hand Zhou Yan held the empty wine glass with suddenly tightened, the gentle smile on his face almost cracking.
Zhou Yi scoffed softly. "Elder brother, in front of me, please tone down your hypocritical act."
With that, Zhou Yi strode upstairs.
The moment Zhou Yi was gone, the smile vanished from Zhou Yan's face.
Zhou Qi had been observing them from a corner. Seeing Zhou Yi go upstairs, she rushed out and ran to Zhou Yan. "Brother, what did Zhou Yi say to you again? Your face is green with anger."
Zhou Yan irritably raised a hand to loosen the tie around his neck. "He said he wants the CEO position of Zhou Corporation."
Zhou Qi exclaimed in surprise, "Is he crazy? He said that to you directly?"
Zhou Yan replied, "And from the sound of it, he's very clear that you and Mom were behind Jiang Ying's drunkenness."
Zhou Qi shrugged dismissively. "So what if he knows? Originally, Mom just wanted to plot against that Jiang Ying so she'd stop pestering you. Who knew..."
Zhou Qi's words trailed off abruptly as she suddenly realized something, quickly raising a hand to cover her mouth.

Zhou Yan's face turned completely cold. "What did you say?"
Zhou Qi stammered, "I... I didn't say anything. It's getting late, I'm going to rest."
As she spoke, Zhou Qi turned to run.
Zhou Yan's hand shot out, grabbing Zhou Qi and pulling her back. He lowered his voice, pressing her, "What did you just say?"
Zhou Qi was somewhat afraid of Zhou Yan.
She knew very well that Zhou Yi's badness was all on the surface, a straightforward kind of badness. But Zhou Yan was different. He was a true petty person, someone who held grudges. Even though they were siblings, she felt a bit of trepidation towards him.
Zhou Qi swallowed, looking at Zhou Yan's unpleasant expression, and mumbled softly, "Well, didn't... didn't that Jiang Ying like you? Mom was worried she would affect your future arranged marriage, so she deliberately schemed against her."
After speaking, Zhou Qi pulled her hand free from Zhou Yan's grasp, rubbing her wrist which had turned red. "Mom originally just wanted to set her up. Who knew she'd actually go to the wrong room and end up in Zhou Yi's room? Mom..."
Zhou Yan roared, "Get out!"
Zhou Qi froze, looking at Zhou Yan in disbelief.
Zhou Yan gritted his teeth. "I said get out!!"
Startled, Zhou Qi shrank back, turned, and hurried away.
On the other side, after returning to his room, Zhou Yi tossed his jacket aside carelessly and sank into the sofa. Listening to the sound of the shower coming from the bathroom, his long, narrow eyes half-closed, a thoughtful look on his face.
