CHAPTER 9 - WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?
"Dad, there's no way I'm taking him to the ball. It will be filled with the sons and daughters of elite families. He'll embarrass me," Yu Xiangxiang complained. But Yu Guangwei ignored her, closing the bedroom door behind him.
"Wang Lin, don't even think about me taking you!" Yu Xiangxiang turned her frustration toward Wang Lin. "Let me tell you, the Hong family is the most prestigious in Luo City. And Old Master Hong is the city's top philanthropist. Only important and well-respected people will be there."
"You going would be a joke. I suggest you stay at your job and try to earn more money," she added condescendingly.
Little did she know, Wang Lin was already aware of the Hong family's status. He had just saved Old Master Hong Shiwen earlier that afternoon. The old man even owed him a villa.

Qin Xue was vain and aspired to become the mistress of the Yang family. Wang Lin decided he would shatter her dream by taking down the Yangs, the family she took so much pride in. Only that would satiate his thirst for revenge.

Following Yang Qing to the 17th floor, Wang Lin spotted two familiar figures—Qin Xue and Yang Yang.

"What a small world," he muttered to himself. On second thought, he realized that encountering Yang Yang here wasn't surprising since this was also a Yang family enterprise.
"Yang Yang, you're here?" Yang Qing noticed him and immediately turned obsequious. "Why didn't you give me a heads-up so I could prepare a proper welcome?"
Though he shared the Yang surname, he wasn't a core member of the Yang family, which explained his fawning behavior towards Yang Yang.
"I'm just taking a casual stroll around the company and showing Xiao Xue the place," Yang Yang replied indifferently.

"Wang Lin?"
At that moment, Qin Xue noticed Wang Lin standing behind Yang Qing and voiced her surprise. Wang Lin had his back to her earlier, and he was dressed in a high-end suit, so she hadn't recognized him immediately.
Hearing Qin Xue's exclamation, Yang Yang turned to Wang Lin, "Is it you? What are you doing here?"
"Why shouldn't I be here?" Wang Lin replied with a faint smile.
