CHAPTER 15 - UNVEILING MEDICAL SKILLS (PART TWO)
"Little lords, you may not know this, but this young girl was cast away here by the brothel owner down the street, left to fend for herself," a kind-hearted passerby shook his head and explained. "Given the severity of her injuries, she's probably beyond saving. Otherwise, the ruthless brothel owner wouldn't have just thrown her out like this."
"Yes, indeed. The poor girl is too proud to stay in that devilish place. She seems to have been beaten quite severely and can hardly move," another woman lamented.
"Is she beyond help?" Ye Renyu asked.
"Most likely, yes. I heard it would take a lot of money to save her. The brothel owner is quite calculating; if this girl dies, she can still recoup some of the girl's 'sale' cost. So for the owner, it's more profitable to discard her. Then she'll take the corpse to claim some money," another sympathetic woman softly added.

"Could everyone please step back? The girl needs fresh air," Yun Qingqiao handed her candy-coated hawthorn sticks to an attendant, rolled up her sleeves, and prepared to assess the girl's injuries. "I'd like to examine her wounds."
Ye Renyu blurted out in concern, "Sister, you—"
The attending servants were even more worried, "Young Mistress, this can't be allowed!" They had been entrusted by the Old Marquis to protect her, and now they were unsure how to handle the situation.
"So this is a young lady of affluence, dressed as a young lord no less. Quite a captivating sight," the crowd began to whisper among themselves.
"Whose daughter could she be?"
"Ah, so it's a young girl!"
"She's really beautiful!"
"Not just beautiful, but kind-hearted as well."
"Indeed, she seems to have a good heart."
Yun Qingqiao examined the injured girl. She felt the girl's arms and legs and found that aside from a gash on her calf that exposed the bone — which looked rather severe — the other limbs seemed fine. When she touched the girl's ribcage, however, the young girl's expression was one of intense pain. Yun Qingqiao concluded that her ribs must be broken.

Although such a rib injury would be considered grave by ancient medical standards, Yun Qingqiao knew the girl could be saved.
"Brother, I want to take her back to our residence," she solemnly told Ye Renyu. Then, turning to two of their attendants, she instructed, "Go back and get a stretcher. This young lady can't be moved casually; it could jeopardize her life. We'll need to carry her back on a stretcher."
"Sister, you know medicine?" Ye Renyu looked at the transformed Yun Qingqiao, amazed. He had never heard of her having medical skills. Even if she was highly accomplished in academics and martial arts, medicine wasn't something one could just pick up overnight.
"I do know medicine, and right now, I can't explain how or why. Just trust me. We have to take her back with us; otherwise, she really won't make it here," urged Yun Qingqiao.
At this moment, the young girl lying on the ground faintly opened her eyes, looking up at the youth standing over her. She barely managed to part her lips and whispered two words: "Thank... you..."
"Oh, you think you can just leave with her?" A sleazy servant walked up, accompanied by a middle-aged woman reeking of cheap perfume. The woman held her nose and pointed at the girl on the ground, saying, "This girl belongs to my Red Moon House. Dead or alive, she's still mine. Taking her away won't be that simple!"
The crowd began to murmur once more, and a kind-hearted older woman standing nearby leaned in and softly said to Yun Qingqiao, "That's the infamous madam of the Red Moon House, a real mercenary who'd do anything for money."
