"It was just for fun. Although the Valley of the Divine Physician is well-protected, people can find it. Today's warning wasn't entirely for show. Don't worry, given my relationship with your grandfather, I have no intention of harming you," the white-bearded old man said, watching as Yun Qingqiao remained silent.

He continued, "Young lady, my four apprentices are going on a journey with me tomorrow. You'll have a senior apprentice here in the valley who can teach you about medicinal theory. I'll introduce you during dinner tonight."

"So, does this mean you agree to teach me medical skills?" Yun Qingqiao asked excitedly.

The Divine Physician, seemingly in high spirits, chuckled, "That decision will have to wait until I return. Oh, and about your meals, you'll have to fend for yourselves because I'm taking the apprentice who can cook with me. Hahaha..."

The granddaughter of the esteemed Duke of Dingnan was undoubtedly not simple. Her willingness to stay alone in the valley indicated a certain level of courage. Looking at her clear eyes and calm demeanor, he thought she had potential, and, more importantly, she caught his fancy.

The following day, Yun Qingqiao saw the senior apprentice whose face she hadn't had a chance to see the night before. "Good morning, senior apprentice!" she greeted.

Though they had only brushed past each other last night after she finished her meal, Yun Qingqiao had a good memory. She recognized him instantly as her senior apprentice, whom her master had mentioned was six years older than her.

"Mmm," he responded indifferently. Dressed in robes as white as snow, he was strikingly handsome even in his youth, with elegant features and radiant eyes that hinted at a subtle aloofness and worldly detachment.

"Has the Master already left?" Yun Qingqiao asked, feeling a bit disappointed. This handsome senior apprentice might be good-looking, but he was rather cold.

"Yes," came his terse reply.

"Really? Did he leave so early? What are we going to eat for breakfast?" she asked again.

The senior apprentice casually answered, "The apprentice who cooked for Master has left with him. We might go hungry for a few days."

Yun Qingqiao had only eaten a little last night. The food prepared by that apprentice was far from delicious, and now she was feeling quite hungry. She went to the kitchen and found that, fortunately, there were still some ingredients—eggs, flour, rice, and even some greens in the backyard.

However, the stove was cold. If she wanted to eat, she'd have to start a fire. She looked at the blackened fireplace and picked up a fire starter, thinking that as a top student from the 21st century, starting a fire shouldn't be difficult for her.

However, she soon realized that she had never actually started a fire before; modern stoves were gas-operated, and she had always been taken care of in this ancient setting. Now, she found herself struggling even to light a furnace.

Frustrated, Yun Qingqiao tried to emulate the head cook of her household, blowing on the embers and adding wood, but the fire kept going out. Defeated, she left the kitchen with soot on her face and asked her senior apprentice, "Do you know how to start a fire?"

Seeing the young girl before him covered in ash, a hint of a smile crept onto the senior apprentice's otherwise aloof face. "Yes," he said.

"Great, that's wonderful! You start the fire, and I'll cook," Yun Qingqiao exclaimed, her face lighting up with joy.

"You can cook?" He looked at her genuinely happy expression and walked into the kitchen.

"You get the fire going, and I'll cook. How about I make some egg soup? It'll be quick; I'm starving," Yun Qingqiao said. Being still relatively small, she pulled over a stool to stand on to reach the stovetop and begin her preparations.
